Per decision D6: dialogue freely editable and growable. The pack tool rebuilds every text pointer table; unedited strings keep Square's original bytes (vanilla pack byte-identical to the ROM), edited strings are re-encoded by our own encoder (decision D5: own codecs, disassembly as specification). Round-trip test: ROM -> extract -> pack reproduces the ROM text blocks; editing a string and repacking relocates correctly.
Starting: branch
res-text, delegated to a fresh agent (background). Scope: own text codec (decision D5), extract to UTF-8 per-version trees (D7), pack with rebuilt pointer tables and Square bytes kept for unedited strings (D6), pack format v0 + core reader, round-trip and edit/grow tests.Merged (PR #27). Main-session review: release
ctest -LE slow20/20 incl.rom.text_roundtrip.*androm.res_pack.*(US and JP); extracteddlg.txtchecked by eye (3 084 entries per version, readable control codes such as{choice},{n}). Agent: vanilla round trip byte-exact US 45/45, JP 44/44 resources; edit test with a +561-byte dialogue relocates 3 078 pointers and the bank split. Open questions recorded in the PR (D5 status of labels/char tables, v1.1 text locations,ff6cli --pack).
